Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)

Location: Beaufort, South Carolina
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)

Unit & Job Details

• Unit: 29-bed general surgical and orthopedic unit with medical overflow (4T Med Surg unit)
• Schedule: Weekdays, every other weekend, float, and holidays as needed
• EMR system: Meditech
• Scrubs: Not provided; dress code colors are royal blue/white

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience required, as Med Surg nurses will float to PCU as needed
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Must carry government-issued photo ID during shifts
• No license or background issues accepted

Experience & Preferences

• Prior travel experience preferred but not required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility

Certifications & Competencies

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
• Background checks including criminal, SSN trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG required within specified timeframes
• NURSYS verification required for RN license

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or facility-specific declination
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: titer or 2 vaccines with boosters or declination if low titers
• Hepatitis B: positive titer or vaccine series; declination form required if negative
• Varicella: titer or 2 vaccines with boosters or declination if low titers
• Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required year-round
• COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination required
• Drug testing: 10-panel within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)

Documentation & Compliance

• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
• Performance evaluation required if previously completed assignments through any agency
• Complete employment application/resume
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit
• Badge photo required (no hats, sunglasses, filters, or altered images)
• Facility-specific confidentiality and job description forms must be signed
• Completion of ~81 Relias program modules prior to first shift and orientation (up to 8 hours orientation time allowed)
