Job Opportunity: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)

Location: Metairie, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 48 (facility open to 36/48 rotating schedule)
Schedule Details:

• Every other weekend required
• No on-call duties
• 2 Fridays off in a 4-week schedule

Job Description

• Work in Level 3 Nursery with ability to attend C-Sections
• Responsible for patient transports within the hospital
• Must have experience in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty

Required Qualifications

• Certified Respiratory Therapist with at least 1 year of NICU experience within the last year
• Experience working with neonate patients
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA only)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA only)
• Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Respiratory Therapist experience

Experience

• Minimum years of specialty experience: Not explicitly stated; facility requires Level 3 Nursery experience (implies advanced neonatal respiratory care experience)
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Certifications & Competencies

• Must maintain current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications

• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start date (two-step skin test or equivalent)
• Annual TB questionnaire required
• Immunizations required or proof of immunity:

  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation)
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31), with exemptions and declinations accepted under facility policy
• Drug screening within 30 days of start date

Additional Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Various facility-specific documents and policies to be reviewed and acknowledged prior to start
