Overview

  • Role: RN (Registered Nurse)
  • Location: Seattle, Washington
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Days, 12 hours
  • Hours per week: 36

Unit / Setting

  • Unit/Department: High Acuity Float Pool
  • Float pool includes: Critical Care Unit, Observation, Med Surg, General Surgery, Ortho Surgery, Short Stay Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Telemetry, and Progressive Care
  • Patient mix: Medical, Surgical, Neuro, and cardiac
  • Ratios: 1–2 depending on acuity; may be 1–3 if acuity is lower or there are transfer orders

Required Qualifications

  • ICU experience: 2 years
  • Prior floating experience, including float pool shifts, other facilities, and/or floating to other floors/units
  • EPIC experience
  • WA or Compact License
  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • NIHSS
  • Ability to titrate drips

Preferred

  • High acuity experience

Schedule / Work Expectations

  • Self-scheduling
  • 3 weekend shifts per schedule
  • Holiday coverage required
  • No call or standby requirement

Clinical Details

  • RN reads strips
  • Monitor tech support present
  • Common equipment includes vents, high flow, BiPAP, and CPAP
  • Common titratable/set-rate drips include Epi, Norepi, Dobutamine, Propofol, Esmolol, Hydromorphone, Midazolam, and CIS

Orientation

  • General Hospital Orientation
  • Myles Modules
  • Cerner validation class
  • On-unit orientation: 2 ICU shifts

Additional Notes

  • Parking is at the traveler’s expense; garage parking is available with daily and monthly options, or transit may be used
  • Charge RN creates assignments at 0645–1845, and RNs choose assignments
  • Charge/Res are free
