Community hospital setting in the San Juan River Valley region

Contract Details

Travel assignment
Contract length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 7 PM – 7 AM
Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
Weekend hours: Vary
No call requirements
No float requirements

Unit Profile

Department: Labor and Delivery (Childbirth Center)
Beds: 17 plus 2 triage rooms
Patient population: Adult and newborn
Patient ratios follow AWHONN standards
Approximately 75 deliveries per month
Equipment includes fetal monitors, ISTAT, and Freestyle
Electronic Health Records: Cerner and Fetalink

Required Certifications

BLS (American Heart Association)
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program, AHA)
ACLS (American Heart Association)
AWHONN certification (must be renewed every 2 years)

Required Experience & Skills

Valid RN license in New Mexico
Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Experience working with infant patients
Experience in charge nurse roles
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Pros

Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.

Cons

It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
