Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel Assignment

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Employment Type: Travel

Unit Information

Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with 23 step-down beds and 16 medical-surgical beds
Staffing (Day Shift): 1 charge nurse, 11 RNs, 4 Patient Care Technicians (PCT)
Staffing (Night Shift): 1 charge nurse, 10 RNs, 4 PCTs
Patient Ratios:
- Step-down: 1 RN to 3-4 patients
- Medical-surgical: 1 RN to 4-6 patients
Equipment Used: Lifts, chest tubes, cardiac drips, stable ventilated patients, tracheostomies
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Cerner

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Experience working with tracheostomies

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience with Cerner EMR

Typical Procedures Performed

Tracheostomy care
Chest tube management
Wound dressing changes

Work Schedule & Environment

Hours per week: 36
Weekend Requirement: Approximately 6 Saturday or Sunday shifts within a 6-week period
Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
Floating: May be required to float to other medical-surgical and progressive care units
