ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – Bristol, Tennessee


Position Details

  • Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse
  • Location: Bristol, Tennessee
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week (36/36 schedule)
  • Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per schedule period
  • Call: No call required
  • Floating: May float to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and occasionally Medical-Surgical (MS) as needed

Contract Length

  • Duration: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Orientation & Work Conditions

  • Orientation includes 16 hours of non-billable online training starting on Sundays
  • Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
  • Additional overtime shifts may be offered and flexed based on hospital census
  • Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical duties

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years, completed within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required
  • Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required for Tennessee-licensed candidates
  • Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug test within 14 days prior to start
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
    • Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
  • Respirator fit testing completed onsite (must comply with CDC facial hair guidelines)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start date (not required annually)
  • Photo for badge within 48 hours of contract signing
  • Completion of facility-specific forms including dress code, safety manual acknowledgment, and exposure statements

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must commit to completing all compliance documents and orientation by deadlines to start on a Sunday
  • References: Minimum 2 references preferred, 3 recommended
  • Skills checklist required prior to start
