Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Beaufort, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)
Unit: 5T - 22 bed adult Medical Surgical Oncology unit
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Hours per week: 36 hours

Job Requirements

Valid RN license in South Carolina
Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Stepdown and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience required
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Facility & Documentation Requirements

Government issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service
Proof of E-Verify or Attestation required
Criminal background check required within 6 months (for candidates signed before 12/14/25) or within 30 days (for candidates signed on/after 12/14/25)
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals/extensions
Primary source verification of South Carolina nursing license required (NURSYS verification for RNs)
Completion of approximately 81 Relias program modules prior to first shift and orientation
Badge photo required (no hats, sunglasses, shadows, or altered images)
Signed job description and confidentiality agreements required
Employee health questionnaire and serial TB screening self-evaluation required
Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands of position required
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year required (annual TB questionnaire on file thereafter)
Required immunizations or proof of immunity (or facility-specific declination forms) for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccine series)
- Varicella
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination (year-round)
- COVID vaccination or declination
Drug testing: 10-panel within 6 months (before 12/14/25) or within 30 days (on/after 12/14/25); instant tests not accepted
Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
Performance evaluation required if candidate has completed prior assignments through any agency
Skills checklist for applicable unit must be updated annually

Certifications

BCLS (Basic Life Support) required
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required only for specific units (not required here)
Chemotherapy certification not required for this Medical Surgical/Oncology unit
NIH Stroke Certification required for Medical Surgical RNs

Additional Information

Scrubs are not provided; dress code colors are royal blue/white
EMR system used: Meditech
Shift schedule includes weekdays, every other weekend, float, and holidays as needed
