Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 9 weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Call Requirements:

One weekday call per week
Weekend call Friday through Sunday once a month
Patient Ratio: 1:1

Job Summary

Specialty: Vascular OR Registered Nurse
Must independently perform endovascular cases without assistance from cath lab team
First-time travelers accepted
Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility
Charting experience required with EPIC system

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in New York
Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
NIHSS certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience with vascular procedures and vascular surgery
Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Government-issued photo ID required
Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, national sex offender registry, and education verification
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and updated monthly
Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
Medication/pharmacology competency exams as required
Color blindness testing required (one-time)
Competency exams as required by specialty

Health & Immunization Requirements

Candidates must complete all health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of contract signing:

Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
Fit mask test within 1 year, with acceptable mask types specified; PAPR allowed if failed
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire accepted in lieu of annual renewal
Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer, completed series, or declination)
- Varicella
Drug screening within 30 days of start, covering multiple substances
Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start (not annual)
COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

Employment application and skills checklist required annually
Work history verification of at least two past employments required
Two professional references within 3 years required (for direct hire candidates)
Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and parking pass form required

Locals must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify
First-time travel nurses are accepted for this assignment
Prior travel experience is not required for this position
