Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Amarillo, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work in the Operating Room with case types including General, Orthopedic, Urology, Endoscopic/Laparoscopic, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, Podiatry, Transplant, and Gynecology.
- Preferred experience with Vascular, Thoracic, Bariatrics, and ENT cases.
- Rotating call required (call day rotation).
- Scrubs provided.
- Equipment used includes Pyxis and EPIC.
- Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM).
- Must be willing to travel within a 50-mile radius.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) circulate experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Ability to circulate and scrub in the OR environment.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID.
- I-9 verification and E-Verify compliance.
- Background check including 7-year history, sex offender registry, education verification, and employment verification.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; onsite drug screen during orientation (only one attempt allowed).
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination accepted)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31). Declinations not accepted.
- Education verification with highest level confirmed.
- Work history verification for the past 7 years.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required annually.
- Photo for badge required.
Additional Information
- Must demonstrate alignment with the facility’s culture, mission, and values.
- Orientation includes safety manual acknowledgement and HIPAA compliance.
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests required as applicable.
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
This position offers a comprehensive OR nursing experience with a variety of surgical specialties in a supportive travel contract environment.
