Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract Position
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4 shifts of 12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 48 hours
Job Details
- Patient ratio: 1:4 on days/weekends, 1:5 on nights
- Patient diagnoses include respiratory illnesses, renal illnesses, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell, cystic fibrosis
- Scheduling: Every other weekend and every other holiday; block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
- Time off: Up to 40 hours can be approved
- Must adhere to float policy
- Epic electronic health record experience required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- Minimum of 1 year of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification, and abuse registry search (if assigned to behavioral health or specific units)
- Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
- Primary source verification of RN license required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- Physical exam within 12 months attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (no exemptions allowed)
- 2-step TB test or Qgold within 12 months (Chest X-ray if positive)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Positive surface antibody titer required or antigen titer if antibody is low/negative
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or titer required (declination accepted but must be documented)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (no exemptions accepted)
- Drug screening: 10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl, within 2 months of start and updated annually
- Pass/Fail cardiac rhythm assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions
- Professional appearance guidelines must be reviewed and acknowledged
- Fit testing required for patient-facing clinical roles, completed onsite if needed
- Various facility-specific forms and screenings must be completed prior to start
Additional Notes
- Fingerprinting required for behavioral health assignments
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
- Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the agency over 1 year
- Skills checklist and competency exams required and must be updated annually
- Radiation badges are not provided for new candidates; must be supplied by the client if needed
This position offers a challenging night shift role caring for complex medical-surgical and telemetry patients with a variety of acute and chronic conditions. Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and able to meet comprehensive compliance and certification requirements.
