Registered Nurse - Post Partum/OB/Labor & Delivery (Night Shift)

Shift Details

• Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend requirement: 2 weekend shifts every two weeks (Saturday or Sunday)
• Holidays: No holiday shifts required
• On-call: 1 to 2 on-call shifts every 4 weeks

Job Description

• Provide care for low-risk pregnant patients and stabilize preterm and high-risk patients for transfer.
• Manage labor and delivery, triage, and emergent C-sections.
• Independently care for well-born neonates 35 weeks and older in a level 1 nursery.
• Quickly stabilize sick newborns with interdisciplinary team support and prepare for transfer to higher level care.

Required Qualifications

Licensure

• Valid, unrestricted Michigan RN license (must be unencumbered and primary source verified)

Certifications (must be current at start date)

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AAP accepted, renewed every 2 years
• STABLE certification
• One of the following fetal monitoring certifications:

  • Intermediate AWHONN
  • NCC C-EFM
  • Inteleos C-FM

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan

Experience

• Competent and experienced in OB nursing with relevant experience in labor and delivery, triage, and emergent C-sections.
• Comfortable working independently in newborn care for neonates 35 weeks and older.
• Ability to stabilize sick newborns and prepare for transfer.

Additional Requirements

• Must provide professional references (minimum of 2, from managers, supervisors, or charge nurses).
• Must complete required background checks, drug screening, fingerprinting, and health screenings including:

  • MMR vaccination or positive titer
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer (history not accepted)
  • Influenza vaccine (required November 1 through April 30, with approved exemptions)
  • TB test (negative T-spot or QuantiFERON within 6 months or 2-step skin test)
  • Fit for duty health statement (within 1 year of start)
• Must complete core competency exams and skills checklists.
• Must submit valid driver’s license or state ID and social security card.
• Must complete emergency contact form and employment verification.
• Must comply with color vision exam (Ishihara compliant).
• Required to wear provided and laundered OR scrubs.

• This position requires flexibility with weekend shifts and on-call duties.
