Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Deerfield Beach, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, every other week (EOW), 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts (11:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• On-call and holiday work required (must work at least one major holiday)
• Hurricane sign-up required (not guaranteed deployment)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Florida
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, with at least 1 year within the last 12 months
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience in Trauma, Orthopedics, Neurology, and Vascular Surgery cases
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 6 months of start, signed by DO, MD, NP, APRN, or PA, confirming ability to perform job duties without restrictions
• Negative QuantiFERON TB test within 6 months (TSPOT and PPD not accepted); chest X-ray accepted if prior positive TB test
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola) – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
  • Mumps – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
  • Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
  • Varicella – 2 vaccines, positive titer, or declination
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (instant tests not accepted)
• Annual fit test for approved masks (3M 1860 Regular or Small) – no exemptions or alternate masks allowed
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved declination/exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)

Certifications and Competencies

• Annual medication/pharmacology competency exam
• Annual competency exams as applicable to specialty
• Required nursing modules and certifications including:

  • ACLS and BLS (AHA or ARC only)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Various facility-specific nursing education modules (e.g., Recognizing Impairment, Stroke Core Measures, Safe IV Medication Administration, Procedural Sedation, Laser Safety for OR nurses)
• Completion of facility-required online orientation and compliance modules annually

Additional Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID must be carried during work hours
• Two professional references required (state mandate for all direct patient care candidates)
• Background check within 6 months including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
• Florida AHCA fingerprint clearance required prior to start, valid within 30 days of start date, renewed every 5 years
• Badge photo required (passport-style, color, white background, no obstructions)

• Must be willing to comply with all facility-specific training and compliance requirements prior to start
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
