Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Stroke Unit
Location: Pueblo, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Stroke
- Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45–07:15)
- Days of Week: Various
- Patient Population: Stroke, COVID, Medical-Surgical patients
- Unit Size: 30 staffed beds
- Charting System: Epic
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- Day shift: 1:5
- Night shift: 1:6
- Ratios may flex based on staffing and unit needs; candidates must be comfortable with flexible staffing ratios
- Floating: Required within scope; may float to like units and sister facilities as needed
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, per unit needs
- Scrub Color: Navy
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Colorado
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year telemetry experience within the last year
- Acute care experience
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado state checks, education verification (accredited nursing school), sex offender search, OFAC sanctions, and others within 60 days of start
- Education Verification: Required (transcript/diploma acceptable)
- Licensure Verification: NURSYS verification within 60 days of start
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
- Fit mask test within 12 months (3M 1860S, 1860R, 1870/1870+ masks accepted)
- Immunizations/vaccines or titers required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (titer or vaccines)
- COVID-19 vaccine or signed declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual TB questionnaire if positive history
- Drug Testing: Required within 30 days of start and annually (specific drug panel required)
- Color Blindness: Ishihara exam required prior to start (online testing not accepted)
- References: Two references from last two years required; one must be from employment within last year, from charge RN, manager, or supervisor
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained
- Competency Exams: Must be current (within 1 year) and include:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency
- Core Parts I, II, III
- OSHA mandatory training
- Stroke Certification: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for neuro/stroke units
Additional Notes
- Return to Office (RTO) days max: 10 days approved, with blackout periods in May, June/July, and September 2026
- Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with flexible staffing ratios
- Facility-specific new employee orientation modules must be completed within first two weeks of assignment
This position is ideal for RNs with acute care experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a stroke/telemetry medical-surgical unit and have strong Epic charting skills.
