Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lebanon, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum 3 weekends in a 6-week period
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Patient Ratio: 1:5
• Call-In Policy: If a shift is called in, the nurse must pick up another shift to make up for it
• On-Call: Possibility of being placed on call
• Floating: May be required to float depending on unit/hospital needs
• First-Time Travelers: Accepted
• Locals: Accepted if living within 50 miles of the facility

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association (mandatory before start due to pediatric admissions on unit)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

• Type: Short Term Acute Care
• Beds: 78 staffed beds
• Charting System: Meditech
• Dress Code: Scrubs of any color, professional appearance required

Compliance & Screening Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year comprehensive background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks annually
  • Transcript/Diploma verification required
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 12 months, updated annually
  • Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (3M 1860R or 1860S masks; no PAPRs; no full beards)
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, renewed annually
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (with acceptable alternatives such as boosters or declinations)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
• Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology competency and color blindness testing required
• References: Two professional references required
• Skills Checklist: Annual completion required

Additional Notes

• Travelers must have PALS certification before starting due to pediatric patients on the unit.
• Nurses may be required to pick up shifts if they call in.
• Floating and on-call duties are possible depending on hospital needs.
• Locals within 50 miles are eligible and considered local for rate differential purposes.
