Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - CVICU

Location: Pueblo, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit)
• Unit Size: 11 beds
• Patient Population: Post-op heart patients, vascular patients, sepsis, respiratory issues, DKA, ETOH
• Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts
• Schedule: Various days of the week
• Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
• Staffing Ratios: 1:2 to 1:3
• Charting System: Epic
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue
• Floating: Required to float within ICU units and possibly Medical/Surgical units
• On-call: Not required

Experience & Licensure Requirements

• Minimum 2 years ICU experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must hold a Colorado or Compact RN license
• Certifications required:

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Time Off / PTO

• Maximum 10 Return to Office (RTO) days approved
• RTO not allowed during these blackout periods:

  • December 21, 2025 – January 3, 2026
  • March 14 – March 21, 2026
  • May 8 – May 11, 2026
  • May 21 – May 27, 2026
• Flexibility may be considered for harder-to-fill positions

Required Documentation & Compliance

• I9 or Attestation

• Background Checks (within 60 days of start):

  • 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado state checks, education verification (accredited nursing school), sex offender search, sanctions list, etc.
• Education Verification (3rd party or transcript/diploma acceptable)
• State License Verification (Colorado RN license required)
• NURSYS Verification (RN)
• References: 2 references from last 2 years, including one from last year, from Charge RN, Manager, or Supervisor
• Employment Application and Work History Verification (last 3 years, gaps explained)
• Skills Checklist (annual)

Certifications & Competencies

• ACLS (AHA or RQI accepted)
• BLS (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (updated annually)
• Competency Exam (annual, minimum 80% score)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (annual, minimum 80% score)
• Core Part I, II, III (annual, minimum 80% score)
• OSHA Mandatory Training (annual, minimum 80% score)

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical Exam (within 1 year, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA)
• Fit Mask Test (annual, specific approved masks)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual)
• TB Questionnaire (annual if positive TB)
• Immunizations or titers required:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Drug Testing (within 30 days of start and annually)
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination or facility-specific exemption (required during flu season)
• COVID-19 Vaccination or signed declination (acceptable vaccines: AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna)
• Color Blind Exam (Ishihara exam required prior to start; online testing not accepted)

Additional Notes

• Candidates living within 75 miles of the facility may have a reduced local bill rate.
• Floating may include all ICU units and possibly Medical/Surgical units.
• Candidate must confirm renewal plans for any certifications expiring within 90 days of start to avoid clearance issues.
