Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: HVTI-Stepdown Float Pool
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts only (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm), rotating day/night shifts; shifts may vary based on hospital needs
- Must work at least every other holiday
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel
- Minimum 18 months of recent Cardiac Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted)
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Progressive care experience preferred but not required
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have permanent Ohio license or compact state license in hand
- Required certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- Certifications must be current and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start
Orientation & Testing
- Pass/fail ECG and medication testing completed onsite during orientation
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Online training modules must be completed prior to start (completed on a computer using Google Chrome)
Background & Health Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required prior to start and updated annually
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap every 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
- Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
Employment History & References
- Application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area to assignment
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment
- Modules and onboarding must be completed prior to clearance to start
- Candidates returning to the facility with less than a 6-month gap may have some orientation/testing exemptions
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification
This position is ideal for experienced cardiac stepdown nurses with current Ohio licensure seeking a 13-week travel assignment with rotating 12-hour shifts in a high-acuity hospital float pool setting.
