Unit Information

  • Unit: Complex Intervention Unit (CIU)
  • Level of Care: Adult Medical-Surgical / Acute Care
  • Unit Focus: 12 beds for patients with co-occurring medical and behavioral health conditions
  • Total Unit Beds: 18 (6 Acute Care, 12 Behavioral Health)
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
    • Med-Surg side: 1:3
    • Behavioral Health side: 1:4
  • RN float within scope to meet facility needs: Yes

Shift Details

  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Licensure & Certifications

  • South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA or ARC accepted)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on unit (check specifics)
  • Other certifications (e.g., PALS, TNCC) not required for this adult med-surg unit

  • Adult acute care patients with medical and behavioral health needs
  • Care team includes nurses and patient care technicians
  • Unit divided by badge access doors separating acute care and behavioral health sides

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
  • Primary source verification of active, unencumbered RN license (NURSYS verification required)
  • Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days of start, renewed annually
  • Immunizations and health requirements including:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest x-ray if prior positive
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/booster documentation
    • Hepatitis B titer, vaccination series, or declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption (flu declinations not accepted)
  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually
  • Color blindness test required prior to start
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions prior to start
  • Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
