ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Metairie, Louisiana

Position Details

• Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse
• Location: Metairie, Louisiana
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Care for critically ill patients requiring Impella and CRRT/NXSTAGE (both are mandatory skills).
• Patient ratio typically 1:2, occasionally flexes to 1:3.
• Weekend shifts required: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.
• No on-call required.
• Floating required: may float to all ICUs, Emergency Department (ED), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and occasionally to Medical-Surgical/Progressive Care Units with 1:4 patient ratios.
• Nurses perform lab sticks, EKGs, and line starts.
• Equipment used includes Alaris IV Pumps, CADD PCA pumps, Servo I ventilators, Fresenius CRRT Dialysis machines, Edwards Lifesciences cardiac monitors, Medtronic EVD management systems, Arctic Sun TMS, GE monitors, Hill Rom beds, Pyxis medication stations, and Veratron bladder scanners.
• Must be able to care for isolation patients, including COVID-19 positive patients; know your N95 mask size.
• Return to Office (RTO) limited to 5 days total.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, with ICU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Record system

Additional Information

• Nurses may be required to float to multiple units including ICU, ED, PACU, and occasionally MS/PCU.
• Must be comfortable working with advanced ICU equipment and performing specialized procedures.
• Facility expects adherence to employee appearance policies and infection control protocols.
• Candidates should be prepared for a fast-paced critical care environment with a focus on patient isolation precautions.

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with strong critical care skills, Epic EMR proficiency, and flexibility to float across critical care units.
