Registered Nurse - ICU

Location: Farmington, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Work in a 14-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a Level III trauma center.
Patient population primarily adult.
Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2.
Shift: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Weekly guaranteed hours: 36.
Required to float to other inpatient nursing units.
Electronic Health Record system used: Cerner.

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid RN license in New Mexico
Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience and ability to float to other inpatient nursing units

Additional Information

Must be able to work in a fast-paced ICU environment with adult patients.
Opportunity to work in a scenic region with access to outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and sightseeing.
Float requirements include coverage of other inpatient nursing units.

Pros

Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.

Cons

It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
