Registered Nurse (RN) – Coronary Care ICU (T4)

Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks (minimum)
Shift: Days
Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week

Unit & Patient Care Details

• Unit: CTICU/CVICU, 24 beds
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:2 in ICU; 4:1 on Telemetry units
• High acuity cardiac surgery recovery patients including IABP, CABG, ECMO, CRRT, lung transplant, thoracic surgeries (esophagectomy, lobectomy, pneumonectomy), TAVR, and Empallas
• Frequent bedside procedures: bronchoscopy, Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, epidurals
• Float requirements: Must float to other ICUs, all Telemetry units, and Westgate campus if requested; travelers float before permanent staff
• Weekend and holiday coverage: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; holidays worked based on unit coverage
• Charge nurse duties included (no patient assignment)
• Nurse aides (2 PCTs) support high census days and nights

Required Certifications & Skills

• BLS and ACLS certification required
• CCRN certification preferred
• Strong IV skills required; no dedicated IV team
• Experience with Cerner EMR system mandatory
• Must pass Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam within 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (max 2 attempts; failure results in 6-month disqualification in region)
• Day 1 pass/fail SIMs Lab on Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (except ED and NyICU with modified requirements)
• Competency in sterile field maintenance essential
• Experience with lifts, restraints, and wound care expected (educational only)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of core ICU experience in specialty being submitted (Coronary Care ICU)
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Teaching hospital environment; nursing students may be present
• Prior travel experience required for ED and Neuro ICU (not explicitly required for this ICU role)

Additional Requirements & Notes

• No facial piercings allowed; natural hair colors only
• Male candidates must be clean-shaven for fit testing
• Must have own vehicle if part of a travel team
• Cannot hold concurrent contracts or assignments with other employers
• Must have been off permanent staff status with this health system for at least 12 months to qualify for travel assignment
• Orientation includes 2 days floor-specific training
• Scrub color: Navy
• Telemetry monitoring system: Phillips
• Intensivist coverage: In-house during day, on-call at night
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7, including transplant patient support
• Parking assigned with shuttle service; night shift parking in garage

This position is for a high-acuity ICU nurse with strong cardiac and critical care skills, comfortable with complex procedures and a teaching hospital environment.
