Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Night Shift)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on Med/Surg Telemetry unit with potential to float to similar patient populations in other units including Emergency Department.
• Night shift hours: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each).
• Must work at least every other holiday.
• Orientation includes passing ECG rhythm recognition and SafeMedicate competency exams.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Minimum 1.5 years of combined experience in Med/Surg Telemetry, with experience within the last year.
• Current certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS Stroke Certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license) required and must be carried on assignment.
• Background checks including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) completed within 12 months and updated annually. Fingerprinting must be done within 48 hours of contract signing.
• Primary source verification of RN license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
• Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months and updated annually; medical/religious exemptions require approval.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual questionnaire if history of positive TB
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination with agency-approved exemptions
  • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Annual flu vaccination (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require agency approval)
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.

Orientation & Training

• Completion of facility-specific online onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
• Modules include training videos and tests; skipping videos will lock out access.
• Modules typically take multiple days and must be completed before clearance to start.
• Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).
• SafeMedicate and ECG competency exams administered during orientation; passing scores required.

References & Work History

• Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
• Employment application must include at least 3 years of prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.

Additional Notes

• Candidates with a break in employment longer than 6 months at this facility may need to retake orientation modules and competency exams.
• Candidates currently on assignment with no break do not need to repeat orientation.
• Candidates must have legal name consistency across all documents.
• Fingerprinting results must be received prior to contract extension start; candidates may start with results pending if fingerprinting is completed before start date.
• Traveler must be prepared to float to other units caring for similar patient populations as needed.
