Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse
Location: Utica, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a brand new, state-of-the-art Emergency Department (ED) facility near downtown with local amenities.
- Evening shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (14:30 to 03:00), totaling 36 hours/week.
- Patient ratios may vary due to high patient volume; expect ratios from 1:4 up to 1:5 or more during surge periods.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Emergency Department (ED) nursing, with ED experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Emergency Contact Form (prior to start).
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and education verification.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
- Fit mask test within 1 year and updated annually (specific N95 masks required).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (PPD, Quantiferon Gold accepted; Tspot not accepted).
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Pneumonia vaccination or declination.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Sept 1 - Mar 31).
- 9 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start.
- Completion of facility-specific online learning modules prior to first shift.
- Photo for badge: professional headshot on plain background, no head coverings or informal poses.
- Signed facility-specific job description and welcome packet acknowledgment.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam and Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for ER staff, expires every 3 years).
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.
- Two professional references within 3 years for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles.
