Registered Nurse – PACU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Afternoon/evening shifts, either 8-hour or 10-hour shifts
- 8-hour shifts: 12:00 PM–8:30 PM or 2:00 PM–10:30 PM (rotating)
- 10-hour shifts: 9:00 AM–7:30 PM or 11:00 AM–9:30 PM (rotating)
- Hours per week: 40 hours
- Call: None
- Float: None
- Weekends: None
Unit Description
- Preop/PACU department located on two floors: L4 and L6
- L4 services: Otolaryngology, Oral Maxillofacial, General Thoracic
- L6 services: Neurosurgery, Orthospine, Neurointerventional Radiology (NIR), MRI
- Facility includes private rooms convertible to intensive care and specialty care services
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Michigan
- Minimum 2 years of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Pre-Op experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Flu vaccination mandatory for the 2025-26 season (no exemptions allowed; egg-free vaccine available for allergies)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (N95 masks accepted; PAPR requires failed fit test documentation)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if past positive, clear chest X-ray within 5 years and annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations or positive titers required for: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
Orientation and Testing
- Pass/fail EKG competency and medication testing required upon arrival for PACU and ICU units
- Candidates must review facility-specific EKG study guide prior to start
- Orientation paperwork must be completed and submitted promptly on the first day
- Orientation rate applies for the first week
Background and Documentation
- 7-year background check within 30 days of start, including all counties lived/worked, sex offender registry, nationwide check; renew annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required prior to start and updated annually
- Government-issued photo ID and valid driver’s license/state ID required
- E-Verify or attestation required
- Employment application required
- Facility-specific confidentiality, code of conduct, conflict of interest, sexual harassment, and misconduct policy attestations must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Completion of required Cornerstone training modules and attestation required before signing
- Facility ID badge must be returned at assignment end to avoid replacement fees
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete a new ID management process before starting assignment, requiring multiple forms of ID and online verification
- Facility provides tutorial resources for the ID management system
- Performance evaluations will be completed by the facility and posted to the credentialing system
This position offers a specialized PACU nursing role with ICU-level patient care experience in a high-acuity, technologically advanced hospital setting. It is suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of relevant experience and current certifications, open to first-time travel nurses.
