Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Prescott, Arizona
Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry (4th Floor)


Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Unit Details

  • Unit: Telemetry - Surgical/Neuro (4A and 4B)
  • Number of Beds: 48
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
  • Nurse Aide Ratio: 1:10-15
  • Telemetry monitored remotely by techs on 3rd floor
  • RN’s interpret telemetry strips and sign at least once per shift
  • Charge Nurse does not take patient assignments
  • Floating: May float to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Experience & Skills Required

  • Experience reading basic telemetry strips
  • Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, CVA (stroke), and TIA (transient ischemic attack) patients
  • Cerner electronic health record experience recommended (only one day of orientation)
  • Prior travel experience not explicitly required

  • Weekend requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
  • Holiday requirement: Work 2 days and 1 evening or 2 evenings and 1 day during major holidays (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day)
  • No call or standby requirement

Orientation

  • 1 shift of unit/department-specific orientation

Dress Code

  • Navy blue scrubs

Traveler friendly, good ratios, great scheduling, decent providers, Uses tiger text to communicate with most doctors. Plenty of hiking activities. Close to Sedona, Flagstaff and Phoenix. 5:1 Med/tele and 3:1 PCU.

Cons

Cost of living is High, roughly $2000-2500 for your own private space. Float between East and West Campus, 25 minutes apart, west will likely be where you spend 75% of your shifts so pick your housing accordingly.
