• Common patient types include abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, and extremity pain
• Common drips include cardiac, antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic, sedation, and analgesia
• Respiratory therapy is in the ER 24/7 and handles ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs
• RT equipment includes vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow
• No monitor techs in the ER
• No X-ray or CT in the ER
• Labs are drawn by both phlebotomy and RNs
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Call or standby is determined by the nurse manager
• Floating is determined by the nurse manager; in an extreme need, may float within Zone 1
• Navy blue scrubs required

Scheduling and Orientation

• Self-scheduling and block scheduling are used
• Full-time and part-time staff are expected to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• Holiday requirements apply
• Orientation includes a week in state, even if first-day modules are remote
• Unit/department-specific orientation date and location are assigned during the week of orientation
• In an extreme need, may float within Zone 1
