Physical Therapist - Therapy Acute

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Allied Health
Shift: Day
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Evaluate and treat patients of all ages, modifying plans of care as appropriate.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and role model for staff and students.
  • Design and adjust plans of care integrating goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge plans.
  • Educate patients, families, caregivers, students, and healthcare providers.
  • Perform examinations using reliable and valid methods relevant to patient complaints.
  • Produce documentation in accordance with clinical policies and regulatory standards.
  • Supervise physical therapy assistants (PTA) and rehabilitation technicians.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and medical teams throughout rehabilitation.
  • Use standardized outcome measures to accurately reflect functional performance.

Patient Population & Setting

  • Inpatient acute care setting with approximately 190 patients on caseload.
  • 20-bed inpatient rehab unit with over 50% neuro cases (e.g., CVA, TBI, nTBI, SCI), lower extremity amputation, multi-trauma.
  • Facility is a Level 1 Trauma center.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in Illinois
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • A Bachelor's degree in the field of Physical Therapy
