Job Opportunity: Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (Night Shift)

Schedule

Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
No on-call required
Estimated patient ratio: 1:1 to 1:2

Required Experience

Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (highest stated requirement)
Prior travel nursing experience preferred but not required

Required Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
NIH Stroke Scale Certification (AHA certifications only)
National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Required Skills and Competencies

Proficient in IV starts
Experience with telemetry monitoring
Competency with ventilators
Proficiency in EPIC electronic documentation system (required)
Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required prior to start)
Unit-specific competency exam (required)
Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)

License Requirements

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio
License verification required within 30 days of start
NURSYS verification required for RN license

Background and Screening Requirements

7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including:
- Social Security trace
- Counties lived/worked nationwide
- Sex offender registry check
- Motor Vehicle Record (if driving is part of the job)
FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start using specific Ohio codes
Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
Education accreditation verification required for nursing degree from accredited programs (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
Employment application and skills checklist required
Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership role)

Health and Immunization Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
TB questionnaire required annually in lieu of TB test renewal
Adult Tdap vaccination (not older than 10 years, no exemptions if working with infants or pregnant patients)
2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (boosters required if low titer)
Varicella immunity via 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions require documentation)
Hepatitis B immunity via titer or 3-vaccine series (declination accepted)
Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 – 3/31); mask required if declining

Facility Policies and Training

Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code and hand hygiene policy
Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgment
Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and signed annually for new contracts

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including ICU experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
Competency with ventilators
Experience with telemetry monitoring
Proficiency with Epic electronic documentation system
