Cath Lab Tech – Travel/Contract

Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Caseload: Approximately 20 cases per day, working in teams of 2 CVTs per lab
  • On-call: Yes; one weekend (Fri-Sun) per month plus one call shift and one evening shift weekly
  • Floating: No floating between service lines or sister facilities
  • Holidays: As needed

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, including experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) certification
  • Proficient in coronary diagnostic/intervention scrub and monitor procedures

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days of start, including:
    • SSN trace, national and state criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
  • Employment verification of last 3 clinical employers
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder if needed
  • Physical exam within 90 days of start, updated annually, confirming ability to meet physical demands without restrictions
  • Drug screen: 10-panel urine test within 90 days of start
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
    • Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Annual TB questionnaire and negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31) or medical/religious exemption; documentation must be uploaded by December 5 deadline
  • Respirator medical clearance annually via RespSafety questionnaire
  • Facility-specific forms including confidentiality, contractor forms, ID badge request, and orientation modules must be completed prior to start
  • Passport-style photo for badge required (frontal view, solid light background, no hats/sunglasses)

  • Locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Facility uses EPIC for charting
  • Parking: No fee; parking pass provided at badge pickup; garages have average SUV clearance
  • Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation; avoid new or extended assignments during peak months (Aug-Sept) if this is a concern
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval
