ICU Registered Nurse
Job Overview
- Location: Chesapeake, Virginia
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night, 3x12 hours
- Schedule options: 3x12s or 4x12s
- Contract length: 21 weeks
- Patient ratio: 1:2–3
- Floating is required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide ICU nursing care for patients with strong neuro critical care needs
- Manage ventilators, IV drips, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, dysrhythmia recognition and management, and emergency response/critical care care
- Float to Stepdown, Emergency Department, or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU patients being held
- Work every other weekend, holidays, and two of the three winter holidays
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Ventilator management
- IV drip titration
- Conscious sedation
- Dysrhythmia recognition and management
- Strong neuro critical care experience
- Stepdown experience
- ED - Emergency Department experience
- Med Surg experience
- Experience with Epic
Compliance Notes
- Candidates with any license or background hits will not be considered
- Local RN candidates living within 50 miles are not eligible
- Submission must include a completed cover sheet, current NURSYS report, and all requested time off
- Government-issued photo ID is required
- Passport-style photo required before start
- Two references required
Health and Screening Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit test for any N95 mask within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Drug screen within 12 months of start
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for the 2025–26 season
- COVID vaccine documentation should be provided if available
- Tdap within the past 10 years
- Measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella immunity documentation required
Additional Notes
- Longer assignments through January 9, 2027 are available
- 48-hour contracts are available with overtime billed after 48 hours
