Critical Care Float
Overview
- Travel/contract RN role in Newark, New Jersey
- Unit details: Combined ICU and CCU
- Shift: Day, 3x12 hours, 7:00–19:30
- Hours per week: 36
- Winter holiday coverage required: work or provide on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays, as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Jersey
- Critical Care Float (1.5 years of experience)
- Critical Care Float experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Arterial line management
- Start and maintain IVs
- Phlebotomy
- Care of ventilated patients
- Interpretation of ABGs
- Post-cardiac surgery care (not directly from the OR)
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with Epic
Required Clinical Skills
- Arterial line management

Preferred Qualifications
- Swan-Ganz catheter experience

- ICU/CCU
- CTICU
- Step Down units
- ED Holding for ICU patients waiting for a bed
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers accepted
- Locals accepted at the same rate
- Navy blue scrubs
- Ratios: 1:1–3 in critical care; 1:4 if floated to stepdown
