Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Night (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM), every other weekend
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Accountable for the care of a group of patients in a telemetry setting.
- Focus on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
- Responsible for supervising licensed and non-licensed staff.
- Applies evidence-based practice and education within a Practice Governance framework.
- Uses the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Provides patient and family education and comfort.
- Mentors and precepts staff members.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments according to policy or patient condition.
- Independently make sound clinical decisions.
- Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Facilitate and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and foster teamwork.
- Identify and communicate opportunities for quality and safety improvements.
- Participate in quality, safety, service process improvements, and regulatory compliance efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
- Experience in an inpatient acute care setting
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Proficient in acute care nursing, including patient assessment, care plan development, and clinical intervention monitoring
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
