Med Surg/Tele RN

Location

• Marshfield, Wisconsin

Contract

• 20 weeks
• 12-hour night shifts
• 48 hours per week
• Can also do 36-hour guarantee

Unit Overview

• 29 beds
• Patient ratio: 1:4 on days, 1:6 on nights
• Common patient types include abdominal surgery, ear/nose/throat surgery, complex wounds, and general medical
• Intermediate care background required

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS certification
• Skills with IVs, drains, ostomies, wound vacs, NG tubes, Foley catheters, and electronic health records
• Ability to titrate drips

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS certification preferred

Schedule

• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday
• No call requirement
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed

Duties and Clinical Expectations

• RNs do not need to read telemetry strips
• May float to other med/surg units when the unit is overstaffed
• Charge nurse role is not required for agency staff

Equipment / Clinical Support

• CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and occasional tracheostomy care
• No vents
• Nurse aides are available

Orientation

• 12 hours of computer training
• 12 hours of shadowing

Additional Notes

• Scrubs of any color
• Must clock in and out at the facility
• Submission must note any prior work for Marshfield; if previously employed there, the end date must be at least 6 months before submission
