The Electrophysiology (EP) Specialist - RN assumes responsibility for the routine care and maintenance of radiological equipment, in addition, assumes responsibility for quality patient care, maintenance of required cath lab and EP competencies and assistance in all aspects of invasive, or non-invasive cardiac procedures.

  • You will explain all procedures to patients to help alleviate anxiety.
  • Your role will work within a team environment with individuals having similar abilities and responsibilities.
  • You will be able to handle emergency situations during high-risk procedures.
  • Your role interacts with physicians during routine procedures, during emergencies and to assist with interpretation of and recording of data collected.
  • You will give primary and critical patient care and administers necessary medications per doctor’s orders, per physician’s extender, while patient is in the lab.
  • Your role recognizes EKG rhythms, including intra-cardiac rhythms.
  • You will complete assigned supply ordering, evaluate stocking needs on a daily basis, checks expiration dates on medications and on re-usable and disposable items.
  • Your role will assist in transferring patients to and from the Cath Lab for procedures and report to receiving nursing unit all specifics regarding procedure performed.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited CVT program or two or more years of experience as an EP technologist in an EP Lab, CV Technologist in a Cath Lab, OR Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
  • Current BCLS & ACLS Certification
  • Stim Experience Required
  • Active status as Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS). If a new graduate, must attain credential within 1 year of eligibility date
  • One year experience as an EP Technologist or equivalent clinical experience as part of education.

The Medical Center of Aurora is comprised of six campuses in Aurora and Centennial, Colo., including the Main Campus, located at Interstate 225 and Mississippi, the North Campus Behavioral Health and Wellness Center, Centennial Medical Plaza, Saddle Rock ER, Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital, Spalding Rehabilitation at P/SL, and a medical office building at Green Valley Ranch. The Main Campus facility is a Level II Trauma Center with Primary Stroke Certification and Chest Pain Center accreditation, and has an affiliation with Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children as well as the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute.
