Job Summary and Qualifications

• Participates in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care needs of the patient.
• Document nursing care in compliance with policies procedures and practices established by the Nursing Department and the hospital.
• Initiates prescribed treatment plan.
• Initiate and carry out nursing plan of care.
• Administers standard medications, blood and blood products.
• Provides for activities of daily living for patients.
• Transport patients.
• Maintenance of peripheral, central, and picc lines.
• Identification of potential and actual life threatening dysrhythmias,
• Management of patients requiring alternative methods of ventilation and limited mechanical ventilation.
• Management of vasoactive and cardiac specific pharmacological agents.
• Management of patients with a variety of medical diagnosis and resulting complications.
• Performs nursing care consistent with the needs of adolescent, adult and geriatric patients requiring treatment and care for pre and post surgical conditions.
• Management of actively dying patients providing comfort measures as needed for each patient.
• Provides care for pre and post operative patients.
• Participation in discharge planning.
• Provision of emotional support for patients and families based on the assessments of their coping skills.
• Performance of nursing care in compliance with safety policies and procedures established by the hospital and Nursing Department.
• Perform special assignments as needed/requested.
• Serves as a clinical resource to department staff, students, volunteers and other departments, and contributes to the teamwork essential to ensuring quality patient care
• Attend staff meetings and in-services.
• Participation in discharge planning.
• Takes appropriate measures to ensure safety of patients.
• Management and interpretation data derived from invasive monitoring devices such as but not limited to Arterial lines, Swan Ganz catheters, AV sheaths.
• Management of patients requiring mechanical ventilation.
• Management of complex disease entities and resulting complications.

What qualifications you will need:

• TX RN Licensure or RN Compact State License
• ADN Required
• BSN Preferred
• BLS 
• ACLS preferred (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
• Minimum of 1 year recent nursing experience in area of practice in an acute care setting
