Job Description

The Hospital Pharmacist provides inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services under the direction of the Pharmaceutical Services Director. The role is responsible for supporting safe medication procurement, distribution, storage, and dispensing while maintaining compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.

The Pharmacist reviews inpatient medication orders, supports medication safety and inventory management, provides drug information to healthcare professionals, and helps maintain pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance. The position also serves as the Pharmacist in Charge of the hospital pharmacy and provides emergency retail pharmacy coverage during scheduled shifts.

Responsibilities
Review inpatient medication orders for appropriateness, accuracy, and safe medication use.
Provide inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services.
Manage medication procurement, distribution, storage, and dispensing.
Provide drug information to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Maintain pharmacy policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Manage pharmacy and Omnicell inventory.
Maintain controlled substance security, records, and accountability.
Monitor and resolve medication and drug discrepancies.
Maintain pharmaceutical procurement, dispensing, billing, and destruction records.
Support medication safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
Maintain crash carts, emergency medication supplies, and specialty medication kits.
Provide weekend retail pharmacy coverage for emergency medication dispensing.
Serve as the on-call pharmacist after hours on scheduled workdays.
Support pharmacy licensure and administrative requirements.
Requirements
Current, active pharmacist license required.
Minimum 2 years of pharmacist experience listed.
Inpatient pharmacy experience within the last 3 years is required.
Experience with inpatient pharmacy services and medication management.
Cerner EMR is used at the facility.
Must be available for required weekend and holiday coverage.
