Every resident or patient at Oak Tree has an interdisciplinary team of professionals including nurses, doctors, social workers, dietary staff, physical, occupational, speech and language, respiratory and recreation therapists to carefully craft their customized care plan. Oak Tree is one of the few Centers offering such highly specialized and comprehensive services in a post-acute setting. Our Ventilator Unit was the first in Middlesex County and has been providing high quality care for over 30 years. Our staff understand the complex needs of ventilator dependent individuals. The unit, staffed 24/7 by respiratory therapists and our highly trained nursing staff, has an excellent track record in weaning patients, who are candidates, from the ventilator to breathe independently The Unit is overseen by our Medical Director who is a board certified Pulmonologist.

Pros

Patient mix is good. Will stay on a unit for 3 months and then rotate.

Cons

5 days a week. Rotating units. Patient ratio is 1:14-20

Pros

Nurses are friendly

Cons

Doctors rude to nurses, most of the staff are brand new grads, charge nurses and ANM s unhelpful. Patient load is 1 nurse to 7-14 patients and they do not take acuity into consideration. They fire nurses for making mistakes after overloading them with an inappropriate assignment. Retaliation is active if issues are brought to their attention.
