Run the other way! Worst place I’ve ever worked.

Nurses and techs and 99% of nursing supervisors: great to work with, worked extremely hard to take care of the patients. The ONLY good thing about this HCA hospital. Overnight hospitalists were lazy, bad doctors, and seemed to hate nurses, very condescending. They did the very least possible and more often than not, would not come to see patients who were taking a turn, very sick, and needed re evaluation. I’ve worked all over the country and have been a nurse 28 years, and they practiced the worst medicine I’ve ever seen. Stunningly bad. I didn’t know this level of care existed. On top of that, the nurse patient ratios were absolutely TERRIBLE. Like 13 patients with an LPN, then float your LPN to ER. Or 6 patients but no tech and 2 fresh surgical patients and an ER admit all arriving within minutes of each other. Safety was not considered at all, ever. On the regular they would overwhelm a short staffed unit with multiple admissions and transfers at the same time; impossible to settle and keep a close eye on. This would often happen at shift change too, so even more unsafe for the patient. Other things —old Meditech that was miserable. Had to waste time searching other units and floors for supplies like suction and pulse ox sensors, pillows. The most routine tasks would turn into a time consuming hassle. Finally the weird surveillance culture. Staff was very cognizant of management “pulling the cameras” and using it against them. Finally, they would lie to travelers to get them in there, then float them 99% of the time. At this hospital patients come dead last, and the techs and nurses are a close 2nd to last. It is AWFUL. I would quit nursing altogether if I had to work at Tristar.
