you can get pretty decent pay ($40/hr for prn) and you can easily work full time hours as PRN, the night shift staff is easy to work with and the management people will always help you when you need it. but, UHS is a horrible company to work for, very greedy and a very sorry excuse for “mental health help”, the patients definitely do not get the help they need there, and that’s completely the fault of corporate, not the staff there. this was one of the most dangerous jobs i’ve ever worked in terms of staff safety, the crisis units made me feel very uneasy and unsafe almost every shift. i got lucky to have not had anything happen to me for the year i was there. it’s not a bad job, it’s quite easy, but do not stay for long, it’s very bad long term.

Consider PRN as 2 - 12 hour shifts a week to keep employed. Consistent short staffing is 'normal' 1:7 staff (not nurse) ratio. 1:14 RN : patient ratio. Patients may smoke it an expectation that nurses purchase cigs for patients to keep them calm. No social workers or therapists on weekends. There is no environmental service during the weekend/ holiday. Normal for staff to be used as punching bag. Tenem locum docs. Open sewers and bugs. COO locked up essential supplies such as gloves because "nurses steal gloves." They count admin as staff for auditing purposes. Very dangerous environment for license and personal safety.
