Opportunity:

RN - ER

Job Details:

• Work mid shifts from 3:00 PM to 3:30 AM
• Every other weekend required
• 2 out of every 3 holidays required
• First to float as needed
• Must have 3 years of nursing experience - no first time travelers accepted
• Will not accept travel teams or duos
• Required to float to Pediatrics ER
• Must have experience with both pediatric and adult patients (50% of patient population is pediatric)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
• For Pediatrics ER: ENPC or CPEN preferred
• Patient ratios: ICU 1:2, Pediatrics 1:4, Adults 1:4, Procedural sedation 1:1
• Complete basic EKG interpretation test during orientation
• 3 orientation shifts on unit plus meet with ER educator
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs
• Use Cerner charting system
• Handle all diagnoses from minor walk-ins to critically ill patients including respiratory failure, asthma, abdominal pain, fractures, substance abuse
• Work in stroke alert and STEMI receiving center
• No block scheduling - must be flexible with scheduling
• Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment

This acute care hospital features a comprehensive emergency department with separate adult and pediatric emergency services. The Adult ER includes 28 stations (18 beds and 10 reclining chairs) while the Pediatric ER has 5 beds and 5 reclining chairs. The facility serves as a STEMI, stroke, and burn receiving center for adults and a pediatric receiving center, handling approximately 325 visits per day between both emergency departments. The organization sees around 30,000 pediatric patients annually and maintains a team-oriented, traveler-friendly environment with dedicated support staff including ER techs, CNAs, and LVNs.
