Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 3x12 hour night shifts in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Every other weekend requirement
• Patient ratios: 1:4 nights, 1:3 days and weekends
• Must be able to handle 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio for MedSurg when floating
• Floating required to ICU or Medical-Surgical units
• 24 hours of orientation provided
• Must have New York license in hand - no exceptions
• Must be located outside 75-mile radius of facility
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• EPIC charting experience is a hard requirement
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring for all patients
• Care for adult and geriatric patients requiring specialized care beyond general medical-surgical
• Manage patients with airway management, acute BIPAP support, arterial lines, central lines
• Administer titrated medicated IV infusions
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• Utilize Rapid Response/Code teams
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Manage respiratory equipment including nasal cannula, oxygen masks, and portable oxygen tanks
• Follow isolation precautions and infection control protocols
• Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white

This tertiary care hospital features 528 total staffed beds and operates a 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) that serves as a critical care step-down unit. The facility provides exceptional, evidence-based care using a multi-disciplinary approach and receives patients from various departments including the Emergency Department, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit, and medical-surgical floors. The unit maintains comprehensive interdisciplinary support services including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.
