Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 3x12 night shifts in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)
• Every other weekend schedule required
• Patient ratios: 1:4 nights, 1:3 days and weekends
• Must be able to handle 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio for MedSurg when floating
• Float to ICU or Medical-Surgical units as needed
• 24 hours of orientation provided
• Must have New York license in hand - no exceptions
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• Must have EPIC charting experience - hard requirement
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Travel experience required
• Must live more than 75 miles from facility
• Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white
• Care for adult and geriatric patients requiring continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring
• Manage patients with airway needs, acute BIPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated IV infusions
• Skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response/code team usage, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, cardiac drip management, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions
• Complete pre-start modules (up to 10 hours total, 5 hours billable)
• One pre-approved time off period allowed

This tertiary care hospital operates a 528-bed facility featuring a 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) that serves as a critical care step-down unit. The unit provides specialized care for patients requiring more intensive monitoring than general medical-surgical units but less than ICU level care. The facility receives patients from various departments including Emergency, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, ICU, and medical-surgical floors, with a focus on pulmonary patients and various medical diagnoses. The hospital offers comprehensive interdisciplinary support services including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary support.
