Opportunity:

RN - CVICU

Job Details:

• Work day shifts in 24-bed Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU (TCV ICU)
• Available for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday schedule
• Maximum 40 hours allowed for time off per contract
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Patient ratio of 2:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Must maintain 2:1 patient ratio experience
• 2 years of nursing experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Epic charting system experience required
• Must adhere to facility float policy within scope of practice
• Can submit with Virginia license pending but must have license in-hand Wednesday before start date
• BSN preferred
• Nursys verification required for submittal
• 24-hour orientation with up to 16 hours of non-billable modules
• Care for patients undergoing cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical procedures including CABG, valve replacement/repair, heart transplantation, and lung transplantation
• Manage complex equipment including ECMO, IABP, ventilators, CRRT, PA catheters, and epicardial pacing
• Handle specialized procedures such as open chest resuscitation, bronchoscopy, TEE, cardioversion, and conscious sedation

Facility:

This academic medical center operates a specialized 24-bed Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU that provides advanced cardiac and thoracic surgical care. The facility offers comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation services. The unit maintains a daily census of approximately 19 patients and specializes in complex cardiovascular procedures, heart and lung transplantation, and advanced mechanical circulatory support technologies.
