Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 4x12 night shifts with every other weekend required
• Patient ratios: 1:4 nights, 1:3 days and weekends
• Must be able to handle 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio for MedSurg when floating
• Float to ICU or medical-surgical units as needed
• 24 hours of orientation provided
• Must have New York license in hand - no exceptions
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• Must have EPIC charting experience - hard requirement
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Must live more than 75 miles from facility
• Scrub color: any combination of navy and white
• Care for adult and geriatric patients requiring specialized monitoring
• Provide continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring
• Manage patients with airway needs, BIPAP support, arterial lines, and central lines
• Handle cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and respiratory care including oxygen administration
• Work with rapid response and code teams
• Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration
• Care for patients needing blood product administration
• Follow isolation precautions and use appropriate PPE

This tertiary care hospital operates 528 staffed beds and features a 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) that serves as a critical care step-down unit. The facility provides evidence-based care to patients from various departments including the Emergency Department, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, and Intensive Care Unit. The IMCU specializes in caring for adult acute care patients requiring more specialized monitoring than general medical-surgical units, with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.
