RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Job Details:

• Work night shifts in a 12-bed neuroscience stepdown unit utilizing critical care and neuroscience principles at intermediate level
• 13-week assignment with every other weekend and every other holiday schedule
• Patient ratio of 1:3 (3 patients per nurse)
• 24 hours of orientation provided
• Care for patients transferring from Neuro ICU including neuro trauma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intraventricular or intracerebral hemorrhage
• Manage ENT cancer patients post tumor resection and flap reconstruction
• Care for post-operative spine patients and patients with wide range of neurological problems
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Must have Epic charting system experience
• 2 years of nursing experience required
• Must adhere to float policy within scope of practice
• Can submit with Virginia license pending but must have license in-hand by Wednesday before start date
• Up to 40 hours of approved time off available during contract
• BSN preferred
• Nursys verification required for submittal
• Skills include arterial line management, lumbar drains, post-TPA care, BiPAP/CPAP management, telemetry monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation

Facility:

This major academic medical center operates a specialized 12-bed neuroscience stepdown unit that bridges critical care and general medical care for neurological patients. The facility provides comprehensive neuroscience services with advanced interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and specialized pharmacy services. The unit maintains a daily census of approximately 10 patients and treats a diverse range of neurological conditions from trauma to complex surgical cases.
