RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Job Details:

• 8-week assignment working 36 or 48 hours per week
• 12-hour night shifts
• Work 3-4 (12-hour) weekend shifts on a 28-day schedule
• Self-scheduling system with priority given to staff, then travelers
• Level III NICU with majority of patients being Level II, growers and feeders at 24-25 weeks
• Average census of 10 patients with nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:3 based on acuity
• 15 private rooms, plus 6 open bays and an isolation room
• May float to Labor & Delivery to resuscitate babies until stable (first 10 minutes of life)
• May float to Pediatrics as extra support without taking patient assignment
• Charge RN available who does not take patient assignments
• Medical Unit Clerk available during day shifts for lab coordination, equipment cleaning, scheduling, and phone coverage
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• California RN license required
• BLS (American Heart Association) and NRP certification required
• Professional scrubs in any color required (no facility names or logos permitted)
• Charting system: Meditech with WOWs provided
• Medication administration through Pyxis system
• IV pumps: Solaris
• Orientation provided on Mondays only including HR paperwork, badge issuance, respiratory fit testing, nursing education testing, and medication test

Facility:

This 172-bed Level II Trauma teaching hospital serves as the only trauma center in Monterey County and surrounding communities. The facility was voted "Best Hospital in Salinas Valley" by Salinas Valley Reader's Choice in 2022. The Level III NICU primarily cares for Level II patients and transfers only babies with cardiac diagnoses to other facilities. The facility maintains high standards for patient care and offers comprehensive medical services to the community.
