Job Details:

• Provide direct patient and family support and nursing care within full scope of practice
• Participate in development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of patient care programs
• Observe, collect data, plan, implement and evaluate patients' physical, psychological, emotional, educational and spiritual needs
• Follow individualized and ongoing plans of care
• Work collaboratively as member of interdisciplinary team
• Charge Nurse responsibilities include coordinating patient movement throughout department and staff assignments
• Receive pre-arrival reports from EMS and community partners
• Coordinate with triage nurse regarding walk-in arrivals
• Collaborate with House Supervisor on throughput needs and bed assignments for admissions
• Work closely with department ward clerk, provider staff, ED techs, RNs, and crisis evaluators
• Maintain strong professional communication skills, conflict resolution, time management, and organization
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 4-5:1 depending on acuity
• Emergency medicine specialty experience required

Facility:

This medical center operates a comprehensive 29-bed emergency department featuring 21 monitored beds, 5 psych safe treatment rooms, and 3 hall beds with additional capacity as needed. The facility maintains chest pain accreditation and serves as a primary stroke center. The emergency department is staffed with dedicated case managers and social workers during business hours seven days per week, crisis evaluators for mental health assessments, and trained ED technicians for phlebotomy, EKGs, and patient safety observation. Provider coverage includes 3 physicians and 2 physician assistants working each 24-hour period.
