Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts
• Every other weekend
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• 2 years of Stepdown/PCU experience
• Must be comfortable with cardiac monitoring and cardiac drips
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Unexpired driver’s license must be submitted with the application
• Licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission

Unit Details

• 30-bed IMC/stepdown unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-6 depending on acuity
• Common patient types include cardiac patients, post-pneumonia, post-cath lab, seizures, ETOH/CIWA, and pacemaker patients

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, print, and measure telemetry strips and identify rhythms
• Troubleshoot equipment as needed
• Float to any inpatient unit as needed, with travelers floating first

Support on the Unit

• Charge nurse present each shift
• Nurse aides/patient care techs available
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7 and assigned to the unit
• Primary attending available, with on-call coverage at night

Orientation

• 2 days of general orientation
• 1 day with a preceptor

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs
