Location

Assignment Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour day/night rotating shifts
• Must be available for scheduled weekends
• Start time: 7:00 AM / 7:00 PM
• Must be ready to go by 6:45 AM / 6:45 PM

Unit Overview

• Intermediate Care Unit
• 30 beds
• Common patient types include chest pain, rule-out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post-pacer, pre/post caths, and overflow intermediate-acuity patients

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Must disclose any licensing hits at time of submission
• Must submit a copy of an unexpired driver’s license
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Must be able to titrate drips including amiodarone, Cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, labetalol, nitro, and heparin

Work Expectations

• Ratios are typically 1:5 and may occasionally reach 1:6
• Must float as needed to Tele or MedSurg
• May be assigned up to 1:7 in MedSurg, though this is not common
• Self-scheduling is allowed if unit needs are met
• Up to 4 requested days off per month are allowed
• Travelers should be flexible for holiday coverage

Clinical Support

• Hospitalist in-house 24/7
• Intensivist in ICU 24/7
• Respiratory therapy in-house 24/7
• IV team in-house 24/7
• PICC/Midline team available
• Pharmacy in-house 24/7

Orientation

• First day: approximately 4 hours with HR and 8 hours on the unit with a preceptor
• Second day: on the unit with a preceptor
• After that, the nurse works independently

• RN scrub color: navy blue top and bottom, with navy scrub jacket; hoodies are not allowed
