Overview

• 13-week contract in Wheeling, West Virginia
• 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
• Unit: MedSurg, cost center 6090
• 52-bed unit with all private rooms

Required Qualifications

• BLS
• NIHSS
• RN license
• Willing to float to the COVID unit
• Must be within a 50-mile radius
• Unexpired driver’s license must be submitted with the application

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS
• Experience reading strips
• Experience with peritoneal dialysis

Unit Details

• Ratios are typically 1:7 on day and night shift
• Weekend rotation is every other weekend
• Holidays are worked into the rotation
• Remote tele is used as needed on a monitored different unit
• RN does not start IVs on this unit; IV team starts all IVs
• RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and pharmacy are in-house 24/7
• Common patients include ortho post-ops, basic neuro post-ops, general post-ops, and medical diagnoses such as COPD, CP, pneumonia, and cellulitis
• Hemodialysis is on the floor
• Floating may include other MedSurg units, MedSurg/Oncology units, and possibly IMC as MedSurg overflow
• Orientation includes general hospital orientation plus 2 full shifts on the unit
