Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with adult critical care, ER, and community hospital experience for a night shift position at a Level II Trauma Center.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital with 431 staffed beds, designated as a Level II Trauma Center
- Adult respiratory therapy unit with floating required to the ER and Adult ICU Stepdown units
- Night shift schedule: 3x12s, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required, plus every other holiday
- Mandatory on-call requirement of 3 shifts per 6-week period
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting is done via Epic
- Scrubs color required: Wine
Requirements
- Active VA state license required; proof of application for VA license along with another state (non-national) license may be accepted for consideration
- BLS and CRTT certifications required
- ACLS required; candidates may begin the assignment with ACLS pending, with a 90-day window from start date to obtain certification
- Minimum experience required in adult critical care, ER, and community hospital settings
- Proficiency in airway management, medication administration, ABG draw and analysis, O2 therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizer therapy
- RRT credential preferred
- NICU, ED, and adult ICU experience preferred but not required in all areas
- License required if applicable
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include providing aerosol, bronchial hygiene, and lung inflation therapies, as well as CPAP/BiPAP implementation and management
- Experience in adult and neonatal intensive care, emergency department, and Level II trauma settings is preferred
- Attendance at monthly department meetings is expected when on assignment; if not working, candidate must review meeting minutes and submit written acknowledgment to management
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- RTO requests are accommodated at the manager's discretion
- All time off and scheduling requests should be submitted upfront
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required for consideration
- A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration
